Witchers are a breed of mutant superhumans who work primarily as monster hunters for hire. They were first introduced in the fantasy short novels written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and have been featured in film, television and video games related to the series.

Witchers are humans who have undergone a brutal training process known as the Trial of the Grasses, which involves the consumption of secret alchemical potions and mystical mushrooms to endow the Witcher with augmented physical abilities of speed, strength, resistance to disease, accelerated healing and endurance, as well as to sharpen their swordsmanship skills to unnatural adeptness.
